Anjanette

Anjie is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Anjie and Kotarah met on the campus of Wilberforce Univeristy through mutual friends in 2000.  Anjie and Kotarah was oil and water when they firt met however, the mutal friend asked for each of us to be "nice" to each other and out of respect for our mutual friend, we did just that. Anjie and Kotarah were both coming out of college ready for the world but didn't know how to get ready! Together we struggled through life after college, bills and LIFE!  But through it all, they had each other which resulted in a blossoming relationship that has grown over the years. They had dinner time, lunch time, shopping sprees with our college refund checks, crying sessions, cheering sessions, you name it, we did it! Anjie is the talker in this relationship and Kotarah would rather text, no matter the form of communication just know that it happens, Anjie always checks on her "Bestie". It's like Taco Tuesday, they go hand in hand! The song tribute to Anjie is "Beautiful" by Snoop and Pharrell https://youtu.be/_FE194VN6c4

Olubunmi “Bunmi” Adigun

Bunmi is the youngest girl of Kotarah’s siblings, yet the first girl of "Sonya's Kids". Bunmi came at a time where Conswella and I were GREAT with being the only girls. We even made bets on if we were going to claim her LOL but, once our momma brought her home, she was EVERYTHING! Kotarah took her in her arms and claimed she would be the best big sister to Bunmi, even taking on a role as a parentified child to Bunmi. Whatever Kotarah did she tried to include Bunmi, open her eyes to a world that no one from the “hood” could even fathom. So, it’s only right that her baby is in the wedding. A bond like no other, Bunmi named her first child after Kotarah… Delilah! And she is absolutely a Doll! Bunmi's son Jariath was the first baby I have personally witnessed his birth, born in Cali yet raised in Cincinnati, I love that kid!!! A song that reminds me of seeing Bunmi dance with the neighborhood girls is "Oochie Wally" by Nas https://youtu.be/vCMXjk6iS3A

Dana Hudson

Dana and Kotarah met sometime around 2005-2006 at Starlight Adolescent Center in San Jose, CA where they both were employed although different departments. It was great to see another “Sista” in the area whom also graduated from an HBCU, although not the first LOL. Dana and Kotarah built their relationship on Black Power and Black Woman Empowerment. We share theories of mental health, stories of the clientele we served, and still are each other’s processor, Tueday's are our days to talk and whatever we have on the plate that week. We never have a hard time calling or texting it other to make sure “we didn’t forget to give somebody the business or if we should rethink how we responded to a situation”.  There is nothing like watching someone you love and admire grow into their profession! In 2018, Kotarah had the pleasure of being Dana’s Membership Intake Coordinator as she became a member of the Finer Women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  Dana is always trying to find the recipe to fix everybody as she embodies love and life for all, we definitely have this task in common except, Dana sticks with it and I will leave LOL. That is one of the reasons I ROCK with her like that! The song that represents Dana to me is "Lullaby" by Tasha view it here https://youtu.be/JUww2PHCe88

Conswella Thompson

Conswella is the eldest of Kotarah's siblings, she gave Kotarah her first and second nephew. Conswella was a younger mother full of potential and grit! Conswelled had her first apartment before she graduated high school yet she and Kotarah shared a bond like no other. In fact, when all of "Sonya's Kids" started coming around LOL, Conswella and kotarah vowed to each other that no matter which way the wind blows, they will ALWAYS be best friends. With time and circumstances both Conswella and Kotarah have made other bestfriends, one this is for certain, no one has ever tried nor will ever compare to the friendship and sisterhood Conswella and Kotarah shares.  " I don't know what I'd ever do without you, from the beginning to the end, You've always been here right beside me so, I'll call you my best friend, Through the good times and the bad ones, whether I loose or if I win, I know one thing that never changes, and that's you as my best friend" - "Best Friend" by Brandy. We use to jam out on this song, but Conswella cant dance LOL!!!!!!!!!!! https://youtu.be/gFMdIj2UPRk

Robert Hatcher

Robert and Kotarah met at Western Hills High School between 1994-1995. Robert and Kotarah started hanging out because of their love for gym shoes, specifically Jordan’s! They shared many classes together but most importantly they shared love, understanding and confusion together. Robert and Kotarah were inseparable, sporting events, work life, and other activities where they even went to Senior Prom together, a story for another time lol. After High School they remained in contact, Robert would come visit Kotarah at Wilberforce and Kotarah would visit Robert in Cincinnati. Robert and Kotarah vowed to always be each other’s BFF, in fact they address each other as such on social media BFF Robert, along with their mutual BFF Crystal. They may not see each other as often as they would like but those calls still come around every year, birthdays, holidays and just because. How do you pick a song for a singer, producer, writer, all around musician, etcetera.. etcetra... Considering Robert is forever growing not only his brand but himself, I pick "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke https://youtu.be/fPr3yvkHYsE

Joseph “Pastor” Smith

Joseph is the third oldest of 6 and the first of "Sonya's kids".  Let’s point out the obvious this young man is not a Pastor by education, but he has grown into a young man with the personal knowledge of growth and was dubbed the name Pastor on a family phone call. Pastor's first hand experience of reglion and spirituality along with his personal triumphs has molded him into the man today.  Pastor is Kotarah’s “Little Big Brother”. He was born in a time when our family were the only Blacks in the neighborhood and so his upbringing from Kotarah’s perspective was harder than most.  As a child we called him Joe, in his adolescent years Kotarah called him "Slim" (I mean he was so handsome and during that time that all the cute boys were called Slim, plus his waves was popping LOL). Let those who have embarked on his testimony say “Hells Yeah” as we all know that he has conquered and overcame what has weighed many Black men down. Kotarah will do whatever within her means to ensure her Little Big Brother is always shielded from harms bosom. With his knowledge and choice of words along with the online class he took to become the officiant…. it’s only right! however, in keeping it real... A song for Pastor would be "Not an Easy Road" by Buju Banton https://youtu.be/I02Kd_FIklg

Kalon Chance (Dayton, Ohio)

Kalon is a Graduate of Central State University (Wilberforce, OH). Kalon is also my fraternity brother, homeboy, road-dog, and most trusted and loyal soldier. Our bond chronicles back to the night when we were both accepted as potential candidates to join the world renowned "Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated" in 1995.  Since then, Kalon has had my back through every major milestone of my life. Kalon and I share a unwavering passion for service towards disadvantaged people and marginalized communities. Kalon and I have put on health, and mental health programs, fundraisers (for people in need) and campained and marched for social justice. Kalon is married to Celena Chance who happens to be a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, (so she is Kotarah's sorority sister). But to understand Kalon's importance in my ilfe is to know that he was my first phone call the night I heard of the passing of my beloved "Granny", he counseled and guided me through that night of grief. The RESPECT and gratitiude I have for this brotha is without bounds and our bond is battle tested and unbreakable.

Jeramie

I met "Q" during my last year at Central State University. "Q" was a graduate student who transfered from Elizabeth City State Univeristy in North Carolina.  "Q" was already a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated and like myself, was well know on the campus. Our "mutual swag" met up on a random late night as we were simultaneously exiting the female dorms.  Long story short "Game recognize Game" and we connected like Brotha's.  "Q" is one of the Distinguished Brotha's that ushered me into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorportated "NU" Chapter at Central State University on 1/28/96 at 3:02am.  "Q" recieved his masters degree from Central State and currently is and educater and athletic coach in Columbus, Ohio. My admiration and respect for how "Q" carries himself and represents Black Excellence truly has no bounds.

Christopher

Chris and I are 5 years apart and I clearly remember the day he was born.  I am clear about the fact that, besides my mother, Chris is the only person that could truly articulate my story as it pertains to the origins of my mentality, motivation, and drive.  He was my first playmate, first kid I ever babysat, first person I ever cheered for and the first person I was ever proud of.  We don't look alike but it doesn't take long to recognize that C.J. is my little brother, because he is and always has been a battle tested soldier, that collects "W's" in life (W's are wins for those that don't know). Chris currently works for Facebook, but is still widely known as the Baseball player who could pitch both right handed and left handed. Chris is the father of my first born Nephew (Nate) and is married to my sister in-law Ivis Cooper (aka Nate's mom). Chris is still the most entertaining person I know, with his son coming in a close second.

Nathaniel

Nate is the first born son of Christopher and Ivis Cooper, the first born grandson of Vivian and Garry Cooper, and the first born nephew of Patrick and Juan Cooper.  Nate is the youngest member of my immediate family and is my favorite kid to be around.  I see glimpses of all my family members in Nate and his fun loving, ever laughing approach to life is the quality in him that most resembles his "Uncle Juan".  He has the heart of an advocate and the drive of an activist. Nate is an "A" student, an excellent Basketball player and probably the next great actor/entertainer. An example of Nate's forward thinking and internal drive, are his plans to finish Middle school and high school and then move on to attend UCLA. Sounds like a pipe dream, but don't bet against Nate. So for now I remain the biggest and greatest talker in the family but when I start slowing down, there is no dought that Nathaniel Cooper will quickly pick up the microphone and keep the party going. "I love this kid". I couldn't have chosen a better nephew and definitely couldn't have chosen a better Groomsman.

Patrick Cooper

Patrick is the youngest of the Cooper brothers. Patrick and I are 9 years apart so yes, I use to change his diapers! Patrick is known for his bold and hard charging approach to achieving success in life and I am absolutely Patricks biggest fan. Patrick is the father of my niece "Sable Cooper" and my new born Nephew "Adonis Michael Cooper". Patrick and his wife 'Christina Cooper" took the show on the road (some years ago) and moved to Florida where they began to build their Empire, highlighted by there house in "Key Largo". Patrick shares his Big Brothers deep seeded and never ending quest for "Victories".  Patrick, Sable, Adonis and Christina will be in attendance via live feed, but they will be represented to the fullest in person by Big Brother, (As Always).
