Hey everyone!! Brandi here. For those of you who don't know our story here goes... DaVon and I met in high school in gym class. The first thing I noticed about him was that big, beautiful smile. We were talking and flirting one day in class sitting on the bleachers and he reached over, put his hand on my leg, and said "Will you be my girlfriend?" and from that day on he was the keeper of my heart. It was my junior year and his senior year, and when he graduated he decided to move to Oklahoma and we separated.

We stayed in touch over the years. Saw each other from time to time. Even tried to get back together a few times, but the timing just wasn't ever right. Christmas day 2017 I messaged him on Facebook to tell him Merry Christmas and we started catching up again. We messaged almost every day for the next few months. That May his niece was graduating so he was coming home and we made plans to meet up for lunch. He was working remotely while he was here and asked me to meet him at Starbucks and we'd figure out where to go from there. I WAS SO NERVOUS on the way to meet up with him. Shaky, sweaty, all the things. When I walked in and saw him I got that all too familiar heart-skippy feeling. I waved awkwardly as I walked towards him and he stood up to give me a hug. We talked for a few minutes trying to decide where to go for lunch and all I could think was "I can't eat! I'm too nervous! Please pick somewhere with wine so I can calm my nerves!" LOL, we decided to go to BJ's. Neither of us ate. (I like to think he was a little nervous too.) We talked for a few hours until I had to leave to pick my kids up from school. We hugged goodbye and as I drove away with a big, dopey smile on my face I thought "We're back. Brandi and Dada are back."

He went back to Knoxville the next day and we graduated from messaging to talking on the phone pretty much every day. We got closer. About a month later his sister fell down the stairs and messed up her knee really bad. He messaged me saying he was driving home soon because she had to have surgery the next day and I remember saying "Don't play with my emotions!! You're really coming home?!?" as I did a little happy dance with a huge smile on my face. (Sorry, Kita. I really was worried about you, lovey. Haha) When he got into town that night we went and had a few drinks at a rooftop bar downtown. When we got home and were climbing into bed I looked at him and said it... The L-word. He paused, then said "What?" I repeated, "I love you." He paused again and said, "I love you too." (HE LOVES ME, Y'ALL!!!) Over the next several months we were able to see each other fairly often despite the long distance between us. It was about 5 months later and he told me he had something to tell me and I knew (Okay, I hoped) that he was going to tell me he was moving home. That March I hopped in my car and drove to Knoxville to get my man and help him move!! Could life get any better?!?

That following February we were in Atlanta for our birthday trip and he had planned a fancy birthday dinner for us at the Ritz Carlton. I suspected and truly HOPED that he was going to propose!! We made it all the way through dinner and...sigh. I had no ring in my wine glass. No ring was hidden in my food. He asked for the check and I'm not gonna lie... I was a little bummed. The waiter brought the bill and DaVon told him he could give it to me. I was thinking "You plan this fancy, expensive dinner. You give me no ring. And now you tell the waiter to give me the bill." NOT how I saw this evening going!! LOL, I opened the black book with the bill in it, reached for my card and I see him moving out of the corner of my eye and you guys... HE'S DOWN ON ONE KNEE WITH THE RING THAT HAD BEEN HIDDEN IN THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK!!! "Will you marry me?" (Is that even a QUESTION?!?) Of course, I say yes and we head back downtown to meet up with his sister who was on the trip with us. We head upstairs at the bar and as we come to the landing I see our people. SO MANY people there to celebrate with us. (Not gonna lie... I ugly cried for about the umpteenth time that night! Haha) He planned everything for months and he did it for ME. He is the best man I've ever known and I still have trouble sometimes wrapping my head around the fact that he chose me. So. Blessed.

I know this is a ridiculously long story and for those of you who made it all the way through... I'm impressed!! LOL, but seriously if you're here reading this you have a special place in our hearts. Thank you for being our people. Thank you for loving and supporting us. We love you all.
