Our Story...
David and I originally met when he walked into my sleep lab and asked for a sleep study. It was around 2017. He was my patient for the night. He was very shy. Withdrawn. Quiet. I could see he was out of his comfort zone as he would occasionally watch what I was doing with an intense curiosity. Though if you ask him, he'll say he had a crush on his tech.
We began making conversation when he revealed that he had become the drummer for a band that I had loved for many years. I excitedly reminisced on some of my most memorable moments listening to Erick Baker play his now famous love songs while dancing around on the docks. As we sat talking together, I too, developed somewhat of a crush! Eight hours later and the night had ended. We went our separate ways and we lived our separete lives.
As luck would have it, three years later we happened to find each other again. Within minutes of getting reacquainted, our first date was on the books! The year was 2020 and the month was May. This happened to be during a time when the world was crashing down around us and a pandemic was erupting. We stopped working. Stopped moving. Stopped gathering. Walking loops around the neighborhood beame tedious. He quickly became my sanity, and I became his safe place. I was his first text good morning and he was my last call goodnight.
Eventually, the world would calm and we would go back to the way we once were. Time passed, my daughter grew older, our lives became more complicted. But one thing remained. We still found each other next to the fireplace, wearing robes, eating charcuterie and cheesecake, and laughing incredibly hard at Danny McBride shows. It was beautiful. And it was by the fire that I found my soulmate.
