Our Story: A Journey of Love, Laughter, and Resilience

Our story is proof that with love, faith, and a little bit of humor, there’s no stopping what’s destined for greatness. We started dating in college, and on July 23, 2005, we officially became The Chevis's. Sure, we were young—barely out of our early 20s—but when you know, you know. Some of our family and friends probably thought we were crazy to take the leap so soon. But here we are, nearly 20 years later, proving them wrong and laughing all the way to Cabo!

One of the most cherished blessings of our relationship came early on: Kenya’s beloved sister, A’Shanti, immediately adored Martin. She loved him like a big brother from day one, and her seal of approval was like God’s little nudge saying, “This is your person.”

And let’s talk about Martin’s proposal. If you know him, you know he’s not shy. On a Sunday morning after church, Martin walked to the podium—smooth as ever—and started pouring his heart out in front of the entire congregation. Kenya had no idea what was happening until he called her up, dropped to one knee, and asked her to be his forever. (Spoiler alert: She cried and said yes. Fast forward 20 years, and it’s safe to say it was the right call!)

Over the years, our love has grown through every milestone and challenge. We’ve earned degrees, built careers, and created a beautiful family with our three amazing kids: MarKenzie Lee, Kenyon Martin, and Kendra Leigh. But let’s be real—marriage is no fairy tale. We’ve faced our share of challenges, but through God’s grace and the strength of our bond, we’ve always found our way back to one another.

Now, as we celebrate 20 years of love, laughter, and lessons, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement. Renewing our vows in Cabo is the perfect way to honor our journey, surrounded by the family and friends who’ve been part of our story. We can’t wait to share this unforgettable celebration with you all—cheers to love, laughter, and the next 20 years!
