| I was working in Knoxville, TN with State Farm. My assignment was ending. In my exit interview, minutes before being released, the phone rang... They needed help in Columbus OHIO. They asked if I could go! I said yes... With my bags already pack, I notified my family of where I was going and reported to OHIO instead of heading back to Texas... I checked into Candlewood Suites in Polaris on a Saturday, well aware that once I started work on Monday, it would be a tough assignment. 10 hr days 7 days a week for the next 30 days or so.
DD & Regina called to let me know that Regina's Brother, KEN, lived in Columbus. They introduced us so I would have a contact in OHIO. (Getting around in strange cities is a little difficult sometimes.) Ken & I talked on the phone and planned to go to Von's Jazz Club for entertainment and dinner!! He picked me up at my hotel... Who does that.... Anyway he was the perfect Gentleman! Even thou it wasn't a date... Looking back it was the perfect evening! The ambient was beautiful, the band was awesome, the food was delicious and the conversation was great.
A week went by.. At around 3 in the afternoon, I was working when I got the call that changed my life. My oldest son was killed in an accident. A lot of the day is a blur. My family wanted me to catch the next flight home. I wanted to drive back so I wouldn't have to return for my things. So my niece, DD, took a 6am flight to Columbus to drive back with me. Needless to say, that night was unbearable, I couldn't breathe..... I called Ken. He came without hesitation and prayed for and with me until I could go to sleep. From that moment he has become my best friend. Walking thru my darkest hour to being able to smile again.... He has been there. Our journey has been profound and our bond is deep.
I truly feel that GOD brought Ken and I together, it was not by coincidence. I believe GOD navigated my path to come to Columbus. I received 2 calls that led me to KEN. I love Ken because he is a man of God... a strong man with a kind spirit and has a smile that lights up the room. (Oh and a great cook!) But mostly because when he holds me in his arms... I feel safe and loved! Our love is planted in fertile soil! I'm excited to be announcing our wedding plans and look forward to sharing this joyous occasion with you! |
