It was the summer after my freshman year of college when I unintentionally met Ronnie through his sister Andrea. She invited me to her brother’s 25th birthday party. Happily, single and ready to non-committedly mingle, I was looking forward to a night full of drinking and dancing!
When Ronnie pulled up to my house to pick me up for the club, I remember thinking he was cute.
It didn’t take him long to get completely inebriated. After several shots, drinking a bottle of Disaronno and tossing dollar bills in the air– his buddies had to carry him out of the club. Instead of taking him home, we all ended up at a 24 hr. diner – where he proceeded to drunkenly tell me how pretty I was. And yet, even in his drunken stupor … he was still cute. Cute enough to convince me to spend almost every day with him in the months and weeks that followed.
We spent the beginning of summer driving aimlessly while listening to our favorite R&B playlist. We watched the sun rise and set. We went go-cart racing, to the beach, and explored new places to eat. We talked and texted for hours. I was completely smitten and secretly didn’t want summer to end.
Apparently, neither did he since he asked me to be his girlfriend on the fourth of July. It’s been an adventure ever since! |
