It all started in July 2022. Carolina was traveling, trying to live her best life before an upcoming deployment in 2023. Although dating didn't seem ideal, she was interested in meeting someone who she could be friends with who matched her passion and sense of adventure. She did what any modern-day person does to meet young locals in the area—she downloaded Bumble. Bumble, the app that allows you to date, make friends, and talk business. Well, this app led to Carolina and Jon liking each other and being a match—a match that almost didn't unfold. Carolina had given Jon her number, but she overlooked his text and never responded.
7/12/23: Jon's first text read, "Hello future wifey, it's Jon," followed by a selfie with the caption, "Just in case you're expecting other Jons to text you." Unintentionally, Carolina did not respond...
On 7/17/23, our guy shot his shot, but there was still no response. He was going to give up, but he decided to try one last time by giving Carolina a call. If you're like Carolina, you do not answer unknown calls, but intuition tells her to answer. And thank God she answered that call. The call went well; they stayed in touch by calling each other and even went on a couple of dates.
Jon knew from the first date that Carolina was not interested in a serious relationship because of the deployment, but on 08/18, that all changed. Carolina received a promotion email that led to her switching units and forgoing deployment. The first person on her mind to share that news was Jon, so she texted him, "You ready to see where we go," and set up a date for him to come over that Saturday, 8/20, for breakfast.
What was supposed to be breakfast turned into a WHOLE day event of wholesome moments sitting in the living room, talking, laughing, and getting to know each other honestly- this is where they brought up taking a trip together. Three days later (8/23), Jon asked Carolina to go on a trip to Mexico. Flights and room were booked, and they left for their week-long trip to The Hard Rock Riviera Maya that following week (8/30).
As they embarked on their trip, the memories and experiences they had during that time validated and reassured each other of how well they complement one another. Riviera Maya was the first place Jon asked Carolina to be his GF girlfriend (09/01). They declared their "por vida" and said their "I love you' s" (09/6). Upon returning, Jon and Carolina continued to learn and grow within their relationship, and on (08/11/2023), Jon got down on one knee and asked Carolina to marry him. The goodness of God formed this love, and the couple would love it if you could witness their vows to one another por vida by saying "I do" on (11/22/24).
