To be honest, we both knew that we wanted to get married some time in the relatively near future because we had talked about it for a while. The actual proposal, however, was a complete surprise for Jen. After Gordon picked up the ring and gave Jen's father a heads up, he asked Jen to marry him on Tuesday, January 17th. Gordon took Jen out to dinner at the Dinosaur BBQ, which was certainly not out of the ordinary, and after dinner they went home to relax before work the next day. About fifteen minutes after getting home, Jen was walking through the kitchen and turned the corner to be surprised that Gordon had an engagement ring and got down on his knee! Jen had no idea it was going to happen then.

It was a great way for the proposal to be surprise (a random weekend or night away would have completely given it away), plus Gordon hates to hold on to gifts and wants to give them as soon as he buys them (Gordon tried to give Jen her Christmas gift over a month early this past year, but she refused to take it)! The proposal could not have been more perfect. 

Not to mention, the ring is absolutely lovely and perfect ~ Lucas even helped pick it out!
